Yalda, along with her business partner Mahnaz and her father, launched Sé Jewels in March 2021. Sé which means three in Farsi was chosen to highlight the three partners, the number 3 was considered as the perfect number since it is considered to be the number of harmony, wisdom and understanding.
Yalda tells us that “one day, my now partner Mahnaz and I were chatting and I casually said- hey, since my dad has been a jeweller for all his life and you’ve been in the jewelry business for 14 years, let’s start a collaboration! I’ve always wanted to be in the jewelry industry with my dad and I just had to trust the timing of things.”
Although Yalda and Mahnaz had known each other since high school and had a lot of mutual friends, it wasn’t until covid that they became inseparable, Yalda refers to Mahnaz as the sister she never had. Yalda tells us “our moms are actually best friends and so are our daughters! And now she is my business partner… and my dad is also the third partner here; it works perfectly because it feels like a small family business, full of love.”
From there, Sé Jewels was born. Yalda and Mahnaz sit and they put their heads together to create beautiful designs that Yalda’s father then helps bring to life! All of the gorgeous pieces are handmade with love in Kuwait, and all of the precious stones are sourced from different countries across the world such as Zambia for emeralds, Mozambique for rubies, and so on.
The bazaar team has been coveting many of the gorgeous pieces that Yalda, Mahnaz and Yalda’s father have brought to life. When we asked Yalda about how it was working with Mahnaz, she told us that “we’re both very calm and understanding so we give each other the space to do what we do best. For example, I handle our social media and she handles finance. My dad handles the making of our jewelry. And we all sit and brainstorm designs and ideas together.”
It seems that the team works together harmoniously, building upon each of their strengths. Yalda tells us that this has become her favorite venture of all time. Not only because she works with her dad and her best friend, but also knowing that they make pieces that women love and enjoy is the cherry on top. “Nothing feels better than knowing you’re making women feel beautiful in your jewelry,” she shares.
Yalda continues to tell us that “as precious as these stones, every woman has qualities they represent. Every single piece we design has a story and an intention. We want our customers to feel beautiful and powerful wearing our pieces.”
This passion for jewels and jewelry design is not new for Yalda, about 12 years ago she wanted to start something with her father, but it wasn’t the right time, and of course, timing is always key.Her inspiration for jewelry came from seeing her mother blinged out all the time, that is where she knew that someday she would want to be designing her own line. And her absolute favorite piece from the Sé Jewels collection? She tells us “that’s a tough one! For now I would say our snake pendant, it was originally something I made for myself, but we decided to add it to our collection as we were getting requests for it. Snakes represent femininity, rebirth, fertility, power and transformation. And I love that.”
We absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for Sé Jewels! The brand has achieved so much already in the short time from its launch a little over a year and a half ago. The team behind Sé Jewels is looking forward to expanding and bringing new designs to their customers.
