For many schools, changes in the modern global landscape continue to present an evolving list of concerns as they attempt to stay relevant in the world of tomorrow. For one new local start up school, they see the fluency in multiple languages to be one of the foremost priorities for those who wish to be ahead of the class and boardrooms of the future. By using as a fundamental model, the full immersion into four different languages, they seek to prepare the brighter minds of tomorrow, wherever they might lead.
Aptly named, the Young Ambassador Early Childhood Language Center is the first Preschool and Kindergarten program in the Middle East offering a full language-immersion curriculum in four languages. The aim of YALC is to prepare children between the ages of two and five, to speak fluently in French, Spanish, English and Arabic through leading early childhood education philosophies and an educated, experienced and fully fluent teaching staff.
While their preschool and kindergarten caters to children between the ages of two and five years old, their language center caters to children between the ages of six and twelve. By doing this, they are able to both teach the kids through early immersion, and also continue in their earlier teachings, as they grow older, so that they do not lose any of the beneficial language skills they acquired when they were young. The YALC Evening Language Center is meant solely to service these students as they grow and evolve in their multilingual capabilities.
By giving their students both the tools of language and ability to communicate, as well as the added cultural experience, they believe that they are giving your child a chance to explore the ever-growing world around them even at a young age. They also feel that this will give their students an edge ahead of the competition throughout their entire lifetime.
When asked why specifically they use the angle of a broad language base as their particular method by which they approach early childhood development, they are quick to point out the proof of why their methodology works. In the first case, they cite higher test scores by saying, “ numerous reports have proven that students who have studied a foreign language perform much better than their monolingual peers on many standardized tests.” Thus, by involving your kids at an early age they will undoubtedly have an advantage above their peers. Secondly, they cite improved reading skills, “a study undertaken by York University in Canada suggests that multilingual children’s knowledge of multiple languages gives them an advantage in learning to read.” Therefore, the advantages go beyond just the literal language learned, but tap into deeper seeded critical thinking aspects that the language learning provides. Lastly, they also cite the less tangible but equally–if not more— important, greater confidence of the children themselves. By having a child who is confident in their studies they are thus able to be more proactive and involved in their education as well.
Located in South Surra, Al Salam area, in a modernly built private property, the facilities are impressive and inviting. Also, built with an enclosed 1200 square meter outdoor play area, it is clear that they want your child to not only have the best in education but also be comfortable and love the environment they are learning in. They pride themselves in having a very child friendly environment, hiring only qualified native speaking teachers.
