WHERE DO I PARK?
As with any shopping experience, we know that peoples’ number one concern is the parking. But fret not, there’s ample parking around Souq Al-Mubarakiya.
If you’re coming in from the city proper, then keep an eye out for the Safat Square parking lot. It’s an underground parking spot with stairs that lead you straight to the Safat Souq. The Safat Souq’s courtyard was once home for the Pigeon Souq – Souq Al Hamam, which is currently located in Al Rai next to the Friday Market, it is a stone’s throw away from Mubarakiya and is home to a significantly large amount of haberdashery shops on the outside and the biggest fabric market on the inside.
If you miss the Safat Souq parking, then keep driving till you find a right turn, there you’ll find a street-level parking. That’s a brilliant spot to park your car. It’s even closer to Mubarakiya and is on the other side of Safat Souq – so you can buy some fabric before you hit the Souqs in Mubarakiya.
If you’re driving in from the Gulf Road, then you can park in the Manakh Souq aboveground parking. The Manakh Souq – Camel Market – used to be the biggest stock brokerage souq in Kuwait till the crash of 1982 that started the biggest recession in Kuwait and the region.
So next time you visit Mubarakiya, reflect on the magnificent history that surrounds the Souq and all those in it. If you’re still feeling lost, then you might want to consult the fully detailed map of the Souq provided to us by the wonderful people at Thouq.
