Kuwait’s fitness scene has been quietly building for years. The boutique studios, the run clubs that fill up before sunrise, the female-focused wellness spaces that have redefined what a gym can feel like in this city. What it hasn’t had, until now, is Gymshark.
The Birmingham-born brand, which started in 2012 as a screen-printing operation out of a garage and has since grown into a community of over 20 million people across more than 200 countries, opened the doors of its first permanent Kuwait store at 360 Mall on May 7th. It is the latest stop in a Middle East expansion that has moved quickly since the brand’s regional debut early last year, and by most measures, Kuwait was the logical next step.
The store itself is built around Gymshark’s signature retail philosophy: dedicated zones for key categories rather than a single overwhelming floor, with hero collections like Power and Vital available from opening day. The layout is designed to feel less like a transaction and more like an introduction, with in-store experiences intended to bring the community in, not just the customer.

That community focus is central to how Gymshark reads Kuwait. The country’s median age sits at around 35, and the appetite for active living among that demographic has been visibly growing. Gym memberships are up. Premium fitness spaces have proliferated across the capital. The run club has become, in its own way, a social institution. Carly, Gymshark’s Chief Commercial Officer, puts it plainly: “Since we opened our first store in the Middle East early last year, we’ve been amazed at the region’s insatiable appetite for fitness and the gym. The sheer explosion in gyms, run clubs and wellness spaces in Kuwait made it the obvious choice for our next store.”

There is also something to be said for where the store has landed. 360 Mall has long functioned as more than a retail destination in Kuwait, it is where global brands come to meet a local audience that already knows them, follows them, and has been waiting for a physical space to arrive. Gymshark’s presence there is less a debut than a long-overdue arrival.
The brand’s position has always been grounded in access rather than aspiration in the traditional sense. Its founding idea, that fitness should belong to everyone willing to show up, has translated into a community-first approach that sits comfortably alongside Kuwait’s increasingly inclusive wellness culture. The leggings and the shorts and the performance essentials are part of it, but the store is ultimately designed around the idea that getting through a workout is better together.
For a city that has been doing exactly that, quietly and with real conviction, Gymshark feels right on time.
