On November 17th, Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa (AAW) and Nike will be the lead sponsor of Kuwait’s 2nd Half Marathon, an annual event organized by the Kuwait Charity Run.
Each year, the Kuwait Charity Run (KCR) organizes runs for donation purposes towards a particular humanitarian cause across the country. Last year KCR raised up to 57,000KD in donation for Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice (BACCH) which helps kids with terminal diseases. This year, KCR has focused its initiatives on the Dasman Diabetes Institute under the Pumps 4 Kids campaign to raise funds and donations in order to provide insulin pumps for the children of Kuwait suffering from Type 1 Diabetes.
Statistics reveal that Kuwait is among the highest rated countries holding the 7th highest diabetes rate of children under 14 years of age worldwide with only 5% of them having access to insulin pumps. Due to supply shortage dilemmas, approximately 90% of children in need of insulin pumps do not receive the treatment aid. AAW & Nike by sponsoring this event, aim to ensure the health of young Kuwaiti citizens for future generations as part of sustainable development.
Kuwait’s 2nd Half Marathon will start and finish at the Marina Crescent on the Gulf Road, a total of 21 Km with the option of participating in only 10 Km. Kuwait Charity Run will cut its ribbons at 8am for the race to begin proceeding a warm up at 7am for the runners to stretch before the half marathon. During the run there will be water and aid stations every few kilometers to ensure safety. In addition, every runner will get a race kit bag which includes: Race bib number, Timing chip, Dry Fit T-shirt from Nike and a Medal.
