This Eid we are waiting for more than kahk, eideya or morning coffee. We are going to see Deadpool 2! We have miraculously managed to avoid spoilers so far by muting all mentions of it on Twitter and threatening friends that live abroad.
Yes, we have been waiting for Deadpool 2 since 2016. Finally releasing in cinemas across Kuwait this Eid, the wait is over. The first time around it grossed over $750 million globally. Ryan Reynolds was nominated as Best Actor and it was the first live-action superhero movie to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Picture in the Comedy or Musical category.
Saying that we are psyched and excited is a huge understatement!
The refreshing comic-book superhero movie made fun of the genre and broke the fourth wall and box office records easily. In the second installment, the iconic anti-hero is forced to think about friendship, family and what it means to be a hero when a super soldier arrives on a murderous mission to kill a young boy with supernatural abilities.
The sequel sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as the iconic anti-hero Wade Wilson along with familiar faces Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni). Other additions to the Deadpool action movie universe include Domino, played by Zazie Beetz and Cable, played by Josh Brolin alongside newcomer Russell played by Julian Dennison. David Leitch, director of John Wick and Atomic Blonde, is the man bringing all of this together. And hopefully bringing more stunts, more style and more action our way too.
A lesser director might have been worried about having to take on the reigns of an already established franchise, Leitch, however wasn’t. “The original was so special, and the world itself seems to be so expansive that you could have a creative voice and still be true to the original,” he said.
But the true star is Ryan Reynolds who not only plays the title role but also co-wrote and produced Deadpool 2. Writer Rhett Reese commented on Reynold’s sense of humor being in line with Deadpool.
“It’s very raunchy and edgy and silly and immature. He was just the perfect fit for it and he knew that. He was in love with the character”.

We have no doubt that Reynolds is a talented actor. His face is behind the mask for more than half the movie, yet he still brings that character and all of his nuances to life using his voice, mannerisms and body movement.
