We go back and forth between being angry at frankendesserts and falling in love with them. Yes, we love a classic knafeh and basic baklavah but we have never backed down from a food adventure especially when the road is paved with sugar, butter and all the things that make life worth living.
Despite everything that’s going on, we take reprieve in the culinary genius of local and regional pastry chefs and generally very smart people who love food! They’ve come up with amazing delights that will make you go “Woaah! What now?,” as you lick your lips in anticipation and excitement.

When the East met the West, they exploded and left this behind.
Kunafa Waffle from Fresh Bites
The best of both worlds?

Ice cream and mohalabiya got married and gave us this intense baby
Kunafa Banana Trifle from yallazest
If you had a toffee layer, you’ve got yourself a Ramadan Banoffee Kunafa creation
Eish Al Saraya from Mr Baker
Normally you would expect there to be some form of bread pudding in this, but Mr Baker have substituted it with knafeh, reinventing both classics.
Ice Cream Baklava from Kayk
Best thing about Ramadan in the summer is all the ice cream inspired desserts.
Nutella Hazelnut Baklava Pie by Cleobuttera
Whoever said Nutella desserts are so passé couldn’t be more wrong
Atayef Cake from Sha•Kar By Anoud
So many layers of atayef pancakes separated by orange blossom cream filling.
Gergai’an SPRINKLED PACKAGE from Spun Sprinkles and Milk
Not a real fusion, but it is cotton candy but in tiny fawanees. We’ll allow it for the cuteness.
Basbousa Creme Caramel
Egyptian dessert shop Tortina has combined the best of both worlds
Basbousa Qatayif Cake from Cacaochi
A totally unexpected combination that we can appreciate.
Knafeh Kotton Cake from Kotton
Japanese cheesecake with a serving of knafeh.
Soft serve konafa and more from Press
Now there is a plot twist (pun intended).
