In our humble opinion, food always tastes better in a bowl. The ultimate cozy way of eating offers a plethora of possibilities in flavors, combinations and indulgences. So imagine our overjoy and excitement when we discovered that there was a full-functioning establishment dedicated to make our deep eating dreams come true. We know what we’re having for lunch this month!
It always happens that, especially in an office as small as ours, when we all want to eat family style, people have different cravings. Who’s still committed to their never-ending health kick, and who is trying to climb back on the good-eating wagon? Also, who doesn’t care about the carb count but isn’t prone to wholesomeness sneaking its way into their dietary habits? Luckily, The Bowl can satiate any of those demands.
So onto the menu we go, where we peruse and click to our hearts’ desires. Separated into five easy sections, the menu provides endless variety packed into a comprehensible format. You could opt to “make your own bowl” with listed options ranging from protein, to vegetables, to additional fun toppings from nuts, pomegranate seeds and sauces like hummus, tahini, mushroom, and Persian mint oil, to name a few.
If you’re lost on choice and feel that your skill in combining flavors is lacking, then you could easily opt for one of their favorite bowls! The honorable mentions that have made it onto our Hall of Fame are: the Protein Fix Bowl: ancient grains (which are absolutely delicious), coffee steak, guacamole and mushroom sauce; and the Chef’s Bowl: beat still our hearts with ancient grains, homemade meatballs with pomegranate sauce, yogurt with cucumber, crispy onion and pomegranates.
This time around, however, we decided to branch out a little. Our resident difficult eater who consistently changes her dietary habits every month (me) found herself ordering the Kale Revolution: completely vegan, with quinoa “meatballs”, corn, beetroot, and edamame – all on a bed of kale. I’m usually a huge fan of the real meatballs and thought that this plant-based version wouldn’t compare, but boy did it ever! No animal proteins were missed in this filling and satisfying bowl, and all hints of sweet and savory flavors melded perfectly – yet, I still felt clean and not a speck of guilt had lingered.
My dining counterpart decided to stick to what she knew she loved best and opted for the forementioned Protein Fix Bowl. Now, let us tell you, dear readers: we’ve all tried this bowl before, and while we don’t like playing favorites, we can’t not give credit where it’s due. You all need to start dry rubbing your steak with coffee, because coffee steak is the best way to go when it comes to eating meat. The bitter, nuttiness of coffee brings out flavors in meat that you never thought existed, giving it the taste of freshly grilled each time.
Madame Editor, never one for following a crowd, was able to trust her instincts with flavor. She has a knack for it, after all, just as she does with words! She opted to build her own bowl! Start out with a bed of Kale, toss in some delightfully grilled chicken, throw in some blanched greens and add a nice drizzle of tahini. I would’ve gone for the creamy saffron sauce, but different strokes!
All in all, our Bowl experience was lovely as always – and we were beyond satisfied with the choices we’d made. The best thing about the bowl, however, is that there isn’t any limit to the combinations you can create with their delicious offerings! In fact, each order made only inspires us to think outside the box a little come next indulgence. However, there are no regrets; never any, only happiness.
