For a successful expansion, they teamed up with a local cloud kitchen operator in Dubai that provides them with the appropriate space, ingredients, and equipment. Heavily trained chefs were sent across to oversee the operations and ensure the same high standards implemented in Kuwait were available there.
Dubai foodies can now revel in the amazing flavors with over 20 brands currently operating. These include Chubby Balls, Proper Sliders, Humble Burgers, Minime Pancakes, Xsliders, Hatch Chicken, Chubby Crepes, Chubby Cookies, Junkyard, Project Pasta, Something Italian, The Kitchen, Thrive Salad, Top Salad and Taco Eataco. We could just imagine the joy customers will discover when sinking their teeth into their first try of the Mushroom Slider at Proper Sliders, as well as their reaction when they dive into their first taste of the famous Chubby Cookies. We were also thrilled to learn that KLC has a plan to unveil the rest of the brands by the end of this year.
With the current state of the world, cloud kitchens have become the go to for many establishments. Cloud kitchens utilize commercial kitchen use for the purpose of preparing food for delivery or takeout only, with no dine-in customers. For some restaurants, a small dine-in space is available. Being a leader in cloud kitchen operations in the region, way before corona days, KLC has been fully invested in optimal food preparation and delivery.
Catering to the Business Bay, KLC currently has one cloud kitchen in Dubai. Subject to demand, the company plans on expanding in that sense as well. Being a cloud kitchen, they have been very fortunate and flexible, which allows them to be insignificantly affected by current events. When asked how the Dubai market has responded in comparison to Kuwait’s market, Co-Founder & CEO Mubarak Jaffar stated “The Dubai market is different from the Kuwaiti market, and because of this we saw our brands perform differently there. After being in the Kuwait market for over 10 years, it is exciting to now face a new challenge in Dubai. Consumer behavior is different across the GCC and our diverse portfolio of brands has allowed us to tap into different segments of the market. Operating in Kuwait one of the most competitive online food delivery markets in the world has prepared us to tackle other competitive markets in the GCC.” The company has been loud and creative in its presence, and the market is responding successfully to the brands out there. This is a very exciting time for KLC and we are proud of our Kuwait founded company to be making huge moves!
The pandemic hit unfortunately during the GCC expansion this year with UAE being the starting point. Although plans have been delayed now, nonetheless the company is still working hard to see out all other expansion plans to the rest of the GCC region by expanding to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain. Each market is being researched and analyzed and you bet that the clients are going to get the same delicious food we are getting locally! Operating previously as virtual restaurants has been a strength for the establishment and helped KLC shine better than most players in the food game.
Another very important point made about the Dubai market in comparison to the Kuwait market was the higher demand for cuisines such as desserts, pasta, and Mexican. Since the company’s teams work hard on studying the market and delivering, they are listening and will respond very soon.
