Have you ever experienced an overall sense of fatigue that won’t seem to go away? Managing our wellbeing is much easier said than done. We sometimes believe that an endless intake of health supplements, fad diets and exercise trends may improve our health. However, as soon as one realizes that these trends aren’t long-term solutions, for instance breaking that miracle diet while on holiday, in creeps back that inexplicable fatigue.
The experts at the Wholistic Health center know all about this, and are here to help.
Inviting us to take a closer look at the definition of ‘wellbeing’, Maha Al Rashed, along with business partner Adam Harris, believe that a deeper examination of our lifestyles is necessary to attain a life-long sense of wellbeing. The center’s serene location in Kuwait city, with an uninterrupted view of the beautiful sea, serves as the setting to the restorative process of holistic healing.
Influenced by the teachings of Paul Chek, an internationally renowned expert in the fields of corrective and high-performance exercise kinesiology, they believe that a holistic approach to treatment and education is key to achieving more balance and control in one’s life. Effectively, this results in a genuine, and more permanent, sense of wellbeing. With both of them being certified C.H.E.K (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Institute practitioners in fields that efficiently compliment one another, they treat the body as a whole system, rather than segmented parts, to finding the root cause of a physical, or even psychological, problem.
Both Maha and Adam have been personally influenced by the teachings of Paul Chek and the C.H.E.K. Institute through their own experiences. For Maha, changing her lifestyle and health regimen only came after her experience of constant fatigue and inexplicable back pain. Turning to Adam, who used to be her trainer then, for advice, Maha still reaps the benefits of holistic healing, and aims to spread her knowledge to others. With reshaping their nutrition choices, one of them living gluten free, they establish the notion that eating healthy doesn’t mean dieting, and only serves as one part to manage a balanced lifestyle.
Upon establishing that achieving a balance of physical, mental and nutritional wellness is key; a consultation at the Wholistic Health center becomes a breeze. Maha explains, “Whether it’s the way we work out, the foods we consume, or how we process knowledge, a balance correction in these areas is immediately noticed by our clients.” What separates the services at the Wholistic Health center from other places in Kuwait is not only the holistic approach, but it’s the level of honest commitment both Maha and Adam extend to their clients. She adds, “Our vision of nutrition may be demanding and require dedication. We will go above and beyond to help our clients. From meeting them at supermarkets to teach them about healthier options, what to pick and what to omit in their kitchens, to even personally calling them to remind them of their goals.”
For first time visitors, clients should expect a lengthy, and more importantly, honest discussion about their lifestyles after a full Posturology chart is created. Basically, Maha and Adam are looking to see what might be causing you physical pain through a physical imbalance. Everybody gets a Posturology chart, regardless of the presence of a physical complaint or not- followed by his or her analysis of where adjustments need to be made. Once this is completed, a list of goals is created for the client, and this is where the journey begins at Wholistic Health. Both Maha and Adam agree that this might be difficult, but it’s all about simplifying these goals and taking one step at a time.
Where fitness is concerned, the approach at Wholistic Health is far more personal than what one might find elsewhere. As a qualified Neuro Muscular therapist, Adam assists in correcting any muscular imbalances by manipulating trigger points in the body that might cause pain. Strengthening the core muscles without using any lifting equipment is a continuous goal for achieving muscles that are strong even if a client isn’t engaging in physical activity. Because fitness is carried out on a one-on-one basis at the moment, Maha and Adam are also looking to introduce Yoga and Pilates classes focused on meditation, as well as hosting loads of education classes for other fitness professionals.
